Rubber Plant Plant Features

Rubber Plant also is known as Rubber Fig or Ficus Elastica is a native of Asia but now has become one of the most popular air purifying houseplants throughout the world. As per NASA it’s one of the top air purifying houseplants.

This is an evergreen plant which is famous for its wide, oval shaped-glossy leaves. It grows slowly. Ficus Elastica loves lots of indirect sunlight but also goes well in less light. So better to keep the plant near the window shield where it can get maximum sunlight.

This is one of the easiest plants to grow which needs minimal care.

The oxygen output of Rubber plant is comparatively more than the other houseplants that’s why it can clean the indoor air in less time. It absorbs maximum amount of air pollutants like formaldehyde from the air. It can be a good choice for the offices where most of the furniture are made of particleboard which eliminates lots of formaldehyde.

Though Rubber plant is one of the toughest indoor plants but little care can make the plant looks happy and healthy. It grows well in bright indirect sunlight. This plant neither should be over watered nor should be completely dried out. In order to keep the leaves clean wipe it with a damp cloth whenever required.

This plant should be repotted once in a year. It should be fertilized in every 3-4 months with a water soluble fertilizer. To avoid root damage, fertilizer should not be applied when the soil is dry. Wait for at least 3-4 months before fertilize a new plant.

This plant is toxic to the pets. If eaten may cause some problem to human also.
